What Is Trauma?

Trauma is the emotional and physical response to events or experiences that overwhelm your sense of safety or stability. It can stem from a single incident, ongoing stress, childhood experiences, or relational wounds. Therapy provides a grounded, supportive space to understand how trauma affects your mind and body, gently process what you’ve been carrying, and rebuild your sense of safety, self-trust, and resilience.

Who Does Trauma Affect?

Trauma can affect anyone. It impacts people of all ages, backgrounds, and life stages. Some individuals know exactly what event caused their trauma, while others simply notice ongoing patterns like hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, or difficulty forming safe relationships. Whether you are dealing with recent trauma or long-standing experiences, support can help you navigate healing at a pace that feels right for you.

Common Symptoms

Trauma can show up in many different ways, including:

  • Intrusive thoughts or memories

  • Difficulty regulating emotions

  • Avoidance of certain places, people, or sensations

  • Feeling detached or disconnected

  • Hypervigilance or constant alertness

  • Nightmares or sleep disturbances

  • Physical symptoms such as tension, stomach issues, or fatigue

  • Difficulty trusting others or maintaining relationships

Our Approach

I believe therapy should feel comfortable and down to earth. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are, with warmth, curiosity, and compassion. You can expect that I’ll show up authentically in each session, giving you permission to bring your whole Self too.

At the core of my work is a foundation of mindfulness and self-compassion. These are approaches that invite you to understand yourself, rather than judge yourself. Through this lens, healing becomes less about “fixing” and more about coming home to who you truly are.
